Schleich Flamingo Wild Life figure. Flamingos are long-legged, long-necked wading birds with reddish-pink plumage. Their name comes from the Spanish word for flame. Flamingos spend most of their time wading in shallow waters, looking for food. They primarily eat shrimp, but they will also consume algae, insects, and other small aquatic creatures. When flamingos flap their wings, they create a unique humming sound that can be heard from up to a mile away.
